The Daejeon City Election Commission announced on the 10th that it has reported candidate A to the police for disturbing voters at a polling station during the 22nd National Assembly election.
Candidate A is accused of causing a disturbance at a polling station in Seo-gu, Daejeon, by demanding to change the ballot paper while voting, and despite the election officials' attempts to stop him, obstructing other voters by making some voting booths unusable.
The Public Official Election Act stipulates that voters may only enter polling stations for the purpose of voting and are prohibited from causing disturbances inside the polling station.
It also provides that anyone who obstructs the freedom of elections through deception, fraud, or other unfair methods shall be punished by imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine ranging from 5 million to 30 million won.
