Chungnam Election Commission Files Complaint Against Local Council Member for Distributing Illegal Ballot-Shaped Printed Materials

The Chungnam Election Commission announced on the 10th that it has reported local council member A to the Yesan Police Station for distributing illegal printed materials in the form of ballots ahead of the 22nd National Assembly election.

A is suspected of conducting election campaigning using illegal printed materials by printing images of ballots marked with candidates and parties while working as an election staff member for a National Assembly candidate and distributing them to election district residents.

According to Article 88 of the Public Official Election Act, no one may distribute printed materials containing content supporting, recommending, or opposing candidates by unauthorized methods that could influence the election until election day.

A Chungnam Election Commission official stated, "Using illegal printed materials for election campaigning or election staff members campaigning for other parties undermines the fairness of elections and can confuse voters' judgment, and such acts are strictly prohibited under election law."
