Lee Jae-myung "Pretended to Work, Oh My Back Hurts"...Ruling Party "It's a Voice from the Heart"

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea and standing election campaign committee chairman, was caught saying "You just pretended to work" after finishing election campaigning. The People Power Party called the remark "an insult and deception to voters." After finishing a field campaign in Gyeyang, Incheon on the night of the 6th, Lee got into a car and said, "You just pretended to work. Oh, my back. My back hurts so much." This scene was broadcast live through Lee's YouTube channel.

The video shows Lee smiling and waving to supporters. The voice of a female supporter cheering, "Leader, please be careful on your way," is also heard. The reason or intention behind Lee's remark is unknown.

The People Power Party strongly criticized Lee's remark. On the 7th, Park Jeong-ha, spokesperson of the Central Election Committee, said in a statement titled "It must be hard to pretend to work," "Lee smiled and waved to citizens outside the car window, but inside the car said, 'You just pretended to work.' This is his 'true feelings.' It is the voice of his heart."

Park added, "The desperate appeal to be chosen by the people was 'pretending to work' for Lee, and if he becomes a member of the National Assembly again after the election, does that mean he will 'pretend to work' again? There was no sincerity from the start, but I did not expect it to be this bad. It is an insult and deception to voters who support Lee and the Democratic Party, and extreme hypocrisy."

The People Power Party also directly attacked Lee regarding a post he made on X (formerly Twitter) on the 1st, which said, "After a night stroll in Gyeyang, pork belly. A taste that makes your eyes gently close. With actor Lee Won-jong," along with a photo of a meal. They claimed that a part of the photo was cropped out showing what appeared to be beef, accusing Lee of pretending to eat pork belly. Han Dong-hoon, emergency committee member, criticized during a campaign in Chungcheong, saying, "Why pretend to eat pork belly instead of actually eating it?" and "He lies every time he opens his mouth."

Won Hee-ryong, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Lee's competitor in Incheon Gyeyang-eul, posted on Facebook on the 7th, sarcastically writing, "He doesn't remember the evidence of the Daejang-dong trial where thousands of billions of won were funneled to contractors, nor the deceased. He felt the taste that made his eyes gently close, but he doesn't remember if it was beef or pork belly," mocking Lee.
