The Regional Culture Information Convergence Research Institute at Pukyong National University held a seminar on the 1st at the Future Hall, Somin Hall, titled "The Development of Generative AI in the Video Field and Opportunities for the Regional Media Industry."
On the 1st, the Institute of Regional Culture Information Convergence at Pukyong National University held a seminar on the theme "Advancements in Generative AI in the Video Sector and Opportunities for the Local Media Industry."
원본보기 아이콘This seminar, which diagnosed the impact of generative AI technology on local companies and industries and explored the future talent requirements and directions for nurturing convergence talents, featured presentations such as "Trends and Applications of Generative AI Technology in the Video Field" (Professor Gong Kyung-bo, Pusan National University) and "Case Studies on AI-based 3D Video Production Technology" (Kwon Oh-jun, CEO of DM Studio).
Professor Gong explained the advancements in image generation model technology and introduced industry-academia cooperation cases that are enhancing image generation technology in recent virtual production environments. CEO Kwon introduced technology that converts 2D images into 3D using AI and presented immersive realistic content production technology along with collaboration cases within the region.
Following the presentations, a discussion moderated by Professor Kim Jeong-hwan of Pukyong National University was held with Park Hee-moon, Director of Busan MBC, Jung Hee-cheol, Team Leader of the Busan Film Commission, and Han Jeong-hoon, CEO of Direct Media Lab. The discussion involved multidimensional debates on the opportunities and challenges that generative AI technology presents to the regional media industry. The discussion also introduced practical difficulties encountered when applying AI technology in the field and emphasized the importance of willingness and attitude toward utilizing the technology.
All agreed especially on the need for various stakeholders to cooperate in responding to technological changes. Professor Kim Jeong-hwan (Human ICT Convergence Major), who moderated the session, said, "What we need now is experience with failure. We must accumulate experience in any way possible, and to turn these failures into successes, the industry, academia, and ultimately the local community must collaborate."
Director Oh Chang-ho said, "Generative AI can be a means and a weapon to bring region-based content to the global market. We will continue to deliberate on nurturing convergence talents who can utilize this well."
