The photo contest will take place from 10 a.m. on the 6th, and winning works will be selected and awarded through the judging by the Naju branch of the Korea Photographers Association.

The award ceremony will be held on June 8 at the Naju Culture and Arts Center, and the works will be exhibited there for three days afterward. Prize money of 10 million KRW for the Gold Prize, 5 million KRW for the Silver Prize, 3 million KRW for the Bronze Prize, and 1 million KRW for the Honorable Mention will be awarded respectively.

When the pear blossoms are in full bloom, Naju holds the Baesinje ritual to pray for a bountiful pear harvest. The ritual follows the traditional Hyanggyo ancestral rite method.

From 10:40 a.m. on the 6th, the chief officiant (Chohwangwan), the second officiant (Ahwangwan), and the third officiant (Jonghwangwan), along with citizens and tourists, will pray for a rich harvest.

Performances and experiences set against the backdrop of pure white pear blossoms are also diverse.

From 12 noon on the 6th, a pear blossom sijo (traditional Korean poetry) event featuring daegeum accompaniment and pyeongsijo will be followed by a weekend regular visiting performance, enlivening the weekend outing.

At the museum area, experience booths that families can enjoy together will be operated, including pear blossom photo exhibitions, pear blossom artificial pollination experiences, Baedori eco-bag making, and pear blossom stamp tours.

At the pear blossom photo zone and the premium Ihwa-gil course set around the orchard, visitors can take memorable photos with the beautiful scenery that is healing just by looking at it.

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “I hope everyone enjoys the bright spring atmosphere under the pear blossoms that mark the beginning of a new season and creates precious memories with family, friends, and loved ones.”
