NHN announced on the 5th that its senior care specialized subsidiary Waflet has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yongin City to introduce a pilot project for 'Digital Senior Care.'
Through this agreement, amid the growing number of elderly households and the shortage of care personnel becoming significant social issues, they will attempt to solve these problems by combining private IT technology with public social infrastructure.
Waflet will supply its self-developed local government-specialized elderly care platform, 'Waflet Public,' to Yongin City. Yongin City plans to actively utilize this platform through three senior welfare centers within the city, leading the digital transformation in elderly care while improving seniors' health management and leisure activities.
The mobile application-based Waflet Public consists of medication reminders, cardiovascular checks, and the MemoryKkok service for elderly health management, as well as games, radio, fortune-telling, and schedule management services to enhance leisure. It also includes an emergency alert service for automatic wellbeing checks.
Additionally, for health management, specialized services are provided through partnerships with digital healthcare companies. Equipped with DeepMedi's solution, which has received medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, seniors can measure their cardiovascular health, stress index, and heart rate by simply touching their fingers or using facial recognition. Cognitive function tests can also help with early detection of dementia.
The signatory organizations agreed to work together to enhance the effectiveness of local government elderly care services and improve the professionalism of care personnel, aiming to start the service in June.
In the future, NHN and Waflet plan to expand cooperation with other local governments beyond Yongin City and develop Waflet Public into a leading domestic public elderly care service.
