Sandan Gong Recognized for Supporting Joint Safety Inspections of Petrochemical Companies

The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced on the 5th that it received a commendation from the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in recognition of its contribution to the government joint safety inspection of the petrochemical industrial complex, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year.

The Corporation was acknowledged for its support in the government joint safety inspection of petrochemical companies conducted over two weeks from September 11 to 22 last year.

The Corporation organized preliminary information on 30 petrochemical companies located in the Ulsan and Yeosu National Industrial Complexes and identified safety-related recommendations in advance to deliver them to the government joint safety inspection team. Based on this preliminary information, the government joint safety inspection team conducted prompt safety inspections to minimize disruptions to the companies' production activities, and related ministries improved four safety management systems.

The Corporation also conducted follow-up management to verify whether the businesses took corrective actions on 1,422 risk factors identified by the government joint safety inspection team. As of the end of March this year, approximately 93% of the risk factors, or 1,322 cases, have been improved.

Lee Sang-hoon, President of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, stated, “Continuous safety management through cooperation with the government and related organizations is crucial to creating a safe industrial complex,” adding, “We will minimize safety blind spots within the industrial complexes by expanding the digitalization of the safety management system.”
