The Daegu Video Media Center will operate the 'Daegu Film School' starting this May to train local film professionals.
Daegu Film School offers a systematic training program tailored to various needs, including the 'New Film Professional Training Course' to discover emerging filmmakers and the 'Business Class' where participants can experience various job roles in the film industry.
The current recruitment is for the 'New Film Professional Training Course,' with the application period open until the 28th of this month. Applicants must reside in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and be individuals who wish to continue film activities locally.
The program will admit 12 students, with 4 specializing in Production (Producing), 4 in Directing, and 4 in Cinematography, maintaining a small class size to ensure high-quality education.
The curriculum includes four common subjects: Film Theory, Film Production, Film Directing, and Film Cinematography, along with an advanced course consisting of a short film production workshop.
The faculty comprises experienced professionals with excellent skills in their fields, including critic Han Chang-wook (Theory), director Kim Hyun-jung (Directing), producer Kim Se-hoon (Producing), and director Go Hyun-seok (Cinematography), providing systematic and professional education.
Graduates of Daegu Film School have had many works featured and awarded at prominent domestic film festivals such as the Jeonju International Film Festival, Seoul Independent Film Festival, Seoul International Women's Film Festival, Daegu Short Film Festival, and Busan International Short Film Festival. Many alumni continue to actively work in the film industry.
Daegu Film School has firmly established itself as a cradle for local filmmakers. Notable alumni include director Park Jae-hyun, who won the Director's Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival for "Narang Animyeon," and director Jang Ju-seon, who received the Apple Cinema Grand Prize at the Daegu Short Film Festival for "Winter Camp."
The first round of document submission is open until the 28th, and final candidates will be selected through interviews following the document screening.
Daegu Film School is hosted by the Daegu Video Media Center and conducted in cooperation with the Daegu Viewer Media Center. The tuition fee is 300,000 KRW.
