The First High School Equivalency Exam of the Year on the 6th Conducted at 23 Locations in Gyeonggi Region... 9,049 Candidates Taking the Test

The first ‘Elementary, Middle, and High School Equivalency Exams’ of the year will be held on the 6th at 23 schools and juvenile detention centers in Gyeonggi Province.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on the 5th that this year’s first equivalency exams will be conducted at 8 locations in the Suwon testing district, 5 in the Yongin testing district, 4 in the Uijeongbu testing district in northern Gyeonggi, 3 in the Goyang testing district, and 3 juvenile detention centers and prisons.

A total of 9,049 candidates will take the exam this time, including ▲916 for elementary school level ▲1,767 for middle school level ▲6,366 for high school level, making it the largest nationwide. This accounts for 28% of the approximately 32,000 candidates nationwide.

On the exam day, candidates must bring their admission ticket and ID and enter the designated exam room by 8:30 a.m. Those taking certain subjects may enter up to 10 minutes before the start of their respective exams.

Acceptable IDs include a resident registration card, youth ID card, passport containing the resident registration number, or disability registration card. If the resident registration card (or youth ID card) is lost, candidates can use the ‘Resident Registration Card (or Youth ID Card) Issuance Application Confirmation’ received after applying for reissuance as a temporary ID.

If the admission ticket is lost, candidates must submit an ID and one photo identical to the one attached to the application form to the exam headquarters to receive a reissued admission ticket.

To ensure safety management at the exam site on the day of the exam, vehicle access for candidates will be restricted, so it is recommended to use public transportation. If it is unavoidable to travel by private car, candidates should check nearby parking locations in advance.

The results of this equivalency exam will be announced on May 9th on the Provincial Office of Education’s website.

Jimi-sook, Director of Lifelong Education at the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "Starting with this exam, the expansion of testing districts is expected to reduce the travel distance and time from candidates’ residences to the exam sites," adding, "We will create an environment where candidates can fully demonstrate their abilities on the exam day and support them to take the exam without inconvenience."
