Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) selected the '2024 Book of Guro' on the 29th of last month.
The Book of Guro is an annual reading campaign conducted to raise awareness of the importance of reading among residents and to provide opportunities for discussion experiences.
This year's selected books by category are ▲ Adult category: Questions About Questions (Baek Hee-jung) ▲ Youth category: B-Cut for You (Lee Geum-i) ▲ Children category: I Want to Be a Friend Who Is Considerate but Speaks Up (Kim Si-yoon) ▲ Toddler category: You Get Hit, I Get Hit Too! (Ahn So-min), totaling four books.
The selected books contain content that focuses on the importance of humans rather than science and technology in an era where humans and AI coexist, under the theme of 'Humanism 2.0.' They were finally selected through deliberations by the selection committee and a resident preference vote.
Going forward, various reading programs linked to the Book of Guro will be operated at district public libraries within the region.
Additionally, starting in May, the Book of Guro relay will be operated year-round to allow related institutions such as schools and reading clubs to borrow and utilize the Book of Guro.
For more details about the reading programs, please visit the Guro-gu Integrated Library website, 'Lighthouse of Wisdom.'
A Guro-gu official stated, “We will strive to revitalize the reading culture by selecting unique and interesting Books of Guro each year with different themes,” and added, “We hope many will participate in the reading discussion programs linked to this year’s Book of Guro.”
