Geochang-gun Hosts Idea Contest to Discover Hidden Strengths

Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 3rd that it will hold the ‘Geochang-gun Hidden Strengths Idea Contest’ until May 31 to promote the region and attract residents ahead of the era of 2 million forest tourism visitors.

The theme covers five areas: ‘Environment & Nature, Culture & Tourism, Agriculture & Livestock, Education & Welfare, and Others,’ allowing proposals of Geochang-gun’s hidden strengths that have not been discovered until now across various fields.

The existing strengths of Geochang-gun include ▲a central city in the southern inland of Korea, located at the border region of three provinces: Gyeongnam, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk ▲a prime location in a basin-type city, with auspicious water flow from west to east ▲23 peaks over 1000m in height ▲the origin of pure water flowing only from sky precipitation and underground springs ▲and accessibility to major cities within one hour.

Any Korean citizen interested in Geochang-gun can participate in the contest. Submitted ideas will be evaluated through public voting by residents and judged by the Geochang-gun Administrative Adjustment Committee based on creativity, representativeness, and expressiveness. Outstanding ideas will be selected and awarded in July.

The proposal form can be downloaded from the county website, and completed proposals can be submitted via email or postal mail. Detailed information is available in the announcement section of the Geochang-gun website.

Governor Gu In-mo said, “This contest is expected to be a valuable opportunity for both Geochang residents and people from other regions to understand Geochang-gun more deeply from both internal and external perspectives and share it together.” He added, “We ask for the active participation of residents to discover new hidden gems unique to Geochang-gun and help the county leap forward even further.”
