According to LG on the 3rd, Chairman Koo made these remarks at the ‘2024 LG Awards’ held on the 2nd at LG Inhwa-won in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. The LG Awards is an event that encourages and disseminates achievements that have created customer value in products, technology, and services over the past year. About 500 people, including Chairman Koo, awardees, and customer judges, attended. Over 1,000 employees participated in the online broadcast.
The LG Awards reflect the ‘customer value’ philosophy that Chairman Koo has presented as a management focus since his inauguration. Now in its 6th year, the LG Awards is LG’s representative customer value event, having produced 405 teams and over 3,300 awardees to date.
Chairman Koo said, "The LG Awards is an award recognized by customers for differentiated value," adding, "I hope the innovations achieved by the awardees spread so that more customers can experience touching moments." He emphasized, "It is not just about the first or best technology, products, or services themselves, but when customers feel experiences that exceed expectations and life changes incomparable to before, they recognize differentiated value."
This year, LG introduced an employee judging system for the first time at the LG Awards. More than 10,000 employees participated in the judging process to evaluate and vote on customer value innovation cases. The customer judging system, introduced last year, was also applied. This year, the customer judging panel, which was previously focused on MZ generation customers, was expanded to include experts, housewives, foreigners, and office workers.
Three customer representatives who participated in the judging also attended the LG Inhwa-won awards ceremony to deliver congratulatory messages to the awardees and personally present the highest honor, the ‘Customer Impression Grand Prize.’
At this year’s LG Awards, a total of 98 teams and 724 people received awards, including four teams awarded the Customer Impression Grand Prize, 46 teams awarded the Customer Satisfaction Award, and 48 teams awarded the Customer Empathy Award.
The LG Electronics LG Signature OLED M development team, which won the Customer Impression Grand Prize in the group category, created a wireless OLED TV that eliminated all cables except the power cord. They were chosen by about 4,100 of the more than 10,000 employees who participated in the judging. The LG Chem team and LG Electronics team also received the Customer Impression Grand Prize in the group category. The LG Chem team developed an eco-friendly recycled film new material.
