The government will conduct a comprehensive review and investigation of related information status to accurately promote the Republic of Korea overseas.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 3rd that it will significantly strengthen the content and scope of the investigation centered on the newly established International Cultural Promotion Policy Office. Until last year, the Overseas Cultural Promotion Agency analyzed foreign media trends and surveyed the national image. This year, the investigation content will be composed by comprehensively referring to the demands of each ministry. The scope will also be expanded beyond foreign media to major media that foreigners refer to for obtaining information related to Korea, such as online dictionaries, tourism-related websites and books, and international organization websites.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will collect the demands of government ministries and related organizations by early this month. It will finalize the investigation targets and scope, and share the results of the status check with each demand organization by October. Additionally, it will analyze the overseas distribution status and utilize it as reference material for establishing national promotion strategies.
Yong Hoseong, head of the International Cultural Promotion Policy Office at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “Interest in Korea has increased and the areas of interest have also diversified,” adding, “We expect that the information review will enhance the timeliness and field relevance of government activities that accurately promote the Republic of Korea overseas.”
