Inyo Han, the election countermeasures committee chairman of the People’s Future, a satellite party of the People Power Party’s proportional representation, proposed a private meeting to the residents in training who are opposing the government’s plan to increase medical school quotas.
On the day, after campaigning in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, Chairman In told reporters, "I sent a message today to the residents in training saying, ‘Let’s meet privately first. If you are willing to meet, you are always welcome, and I will make time.’"

I can fully convey the results of the dialogue to Han Dong-hoon, the emergency countermeasures committee chairman of our party, as well as to our government and the presidential office." He also said, "Since I was not appointed to the relevant position, I cannot go to meet them. I feel sorry for them (the residents in training), but they have to come to me. Only then will I have the power."
Meanwhile, following President Yoon Seok-yeol’s national address on medical reform the previous day, Chairman In evaluated the remarks by Sung Tae-yoon, the policy chief of the presidential office, who mentioned the possibility of adjusting the scale of the medical school quota increase of '2,000' in a media interview, as "very welcome news" and said, "It seems the door has somewhat opened now."
Earlier, President Yoon criticized the medical community, saying, "The medical community, which had consistently remained silent in response to the government’s request to present specific numbers regarding the increase scale, is now throwing out various numbers like 350, 500, 1,000 without any basis," and added, "Moreover, they are threatening that the number should be reduced by 500 to 1,000 from the current level."
However, he stated, "If the medical community insists on reducing the increase scale, they should propose a unified plan to the government based on solid scientific evidence rather than collective action," and added, "If they bring a more reasonable and rational plan, we can discuss it anytime."
