Isu Group announced on the 2nd that it will release a limited edition 2024 SS collection in collaboration with designer Jiyong Kim.
Since last year, Isu Group has been conducting an upcycling project with Jiyong Kim, creating bags and clothing from discarded work uniforms. These items will be included and sold as part of Jiyong Kim's 2024 SS collection. The newly launched ‘Isu X Jiyong Kim’ bags are made in the form of sling bags.
They were produced using discarded work uniforms from Isu Chemical employees. While preserving the original dark purple color of the uniforms, Jiyong Kim’s unique bleaching technique called ‘Sunbleach’ was applied. Through the Sunbleach technique, each piece has a different pattern, and since only a limited quantity is available for purchase, it adds significant collectible value as a limited edition. These products will be sold as limited editions at overseas luxury select shops.
Jiyong Kim, who collaborated with Isu Group, is gaining global attention by presenting items using the ‘Sunbleach’ technique, which involves sun-exposing the fabric. He completed both his bachelor's and master's degrees at Central Saint Martins in the UK, one of the world’s top three fashion schools. The ‘Jiyong Kim’ brand was born after his graduation work sold out at a famous overseas select shop.
Se-min Kim, Executive Director of Isu Group, said, "As ESG management has become a key issue, we have repeatedly considered what ESG is most suitable for Isu." He added, "We have been continuing various projects with the keyword ‘upcycle,’ going beyond ‘recycle’ in the fashion field." He further stated, "Through collaboration with Jiyong Kim, I hope this becomes an opportunity for the values Isu envisions to have a positive impact on society."
