Fire at Factory in Seoknam-dong, Incheon... Response Level 1 Issued

A fire broke out at a factory in Seoknam-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon, at around 3:57 PM on the 1st.

There were no confirmed casualties from the fire, but thick black smoke billowed, prompting the fire authorities to receive 40 fire reports in quick succession.

The fire department issued a "Response Level 1" alarm, which mobilizes all personnel from the local fire station, at 4:26 PM, 29 minutes after the fire started. They deployed 134 firefighters and 24 pieces of equipment to extinguish the fire.

Seo-gu sent safety text messages informing residents of the fire and urged "nearby residents to evacuate to a safe place and for vehicles to take detours."

A fire department official said, "We issued the response level due to concerns about the fire spreading and are working to put out the fire," adding, "Once the fire is extinguished, we plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire."
