Namgu Soup Kitchen Serves Warm Meals to Over 200 Vulnerable Individuals

Meal Distribution, Volunteer Encouragement, and Listening to Citizens' Suggestions

On the 1st, Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, visited the Nam-gu Soup Kitchen (Nam-gu Office Baseball Stadium), which provides free meals for vulnerable groups, to encourage the volunteers and participate in the meal service activities.

On this day, Mayor Lee Kang-deok, along with Naju-young, Chairman of the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Jeon Ik-hyun, Chairman of the Pohang Steel Management Corporation, participated in the meal service, providing a meal filled with love to about 200 vulnerable people in the region.


The mayor carefully observed the citizens visiting the soup kitchen, listened to their suggestions, and had a time of communication. He also encouraged and expressed gratitude to the volunteers who participated in the meal distribution together.


Organized by the Pohang City District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association and the Pohang Steel Management Corporation, the Nam-gu Soup Kitchen provides lunch for vulnerable groups every Monday. A total of nine companies, including the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry and tenants of the Pohang Steel Complex, support the free meal service.


Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “I am deeply grateful to the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association, companies, and related organizations for actively participating in this warm volunteer activity for vulnerable groups in our community.” He added, “We will do our best to prepare various welfare policies with careful attention so that vulnerable groups can live comfortably and vibrantly.”
