Choi Byung-kwan, the new Deputy Governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, took office on the 1st and officially began his duties. After serving as the Director of Planning and Coordination Office of Jeonbuk Province in 2018, he returned to his hometown after six years away.
Deputy Governor Choi said at the inauguration ceremony held in the large conference room of Jeonbuk Provincial Office in the morning, attended by about 300 employees, "As our Jeonbuk writes a new history with the launch of the Special Self-Governing Province, I will carry a heavy sense of responsibility and contribute more to the development of provincial administration."

원본보기 아이콘He stated in his inaugural remarks, "'Festina lente!' (Make haste slowly) is my favorite proverb. I will calmly seek insight for the development of provincial administration and diligently hone thorough preparation and execution skills."
He added, "I will challenge tirelessly with the spirit of 'Challenge Gyeongseong' and devote myself to resolving current issues such as the designation of a bio-specialized complex and the successful hosting of the World Korean Business Convention, prioritizing the livelihood of the residents."
Before the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Governor Choi officially started his duties by attending the policy coordination meeting chaired by Governor Kim Kwan-young.
The new Deputy Governor Choi Byung-kwan was born in 1970 in Iksan, Jeonbuk. After graduating from Yonsei University with a degree in Public Administration, he passed the 37th Administrative Examination in 1993 and entered public service.
He has served as Planning Officer and Director of Planning and Coordination Office of Jeonbuk Province, and held key positions at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety including Regional Economic Support Officer, Spokesperson, Local Administration Policy Officer, and Director of Local Finance and Economy Office. As an expert in local administration, he is expected to strengthen national cooperation between central and local governments.
