The "Seoul International Manufacturing Technology Show" (SIMTOS), established as one of the world's top four production and manufacturing technology exhibitions, opened on the 1st.

Hosted and organized by the Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea International Trade Association, and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SIMTOS 2024 is being held from this day until the 5th at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Marking its 20th edition this year, the event features participation from over 1,300 companies from 35 countries worldwide, making it the largest scale ever.

The exhibition halls are filled with ▲ Metal Cutting and Mold Technology Pavilion ▲ Materials, Components, and Control Technology Pavilion ▲ Tooling and Measurement Technology Pavilion ▲ Cutting Processing and Welding Technology Pavilion ▲ Press and Forming Technology Pavilion. Considering the rapidly changing global manufacturing paradigm and customer companies' demands, a special exhibition on robotics and digital manufacturing technology is also separately operated.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy assesses that fundamental productivity innovation is urgently needed by effectively responding to external and structural factors such as global hegemony competition, supply chain disruptions, population decline, and productivity decrease, by innovating manufacturing equipment and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into manufacturing processes.

In his congratulatory speech, Minister An Deok-geun of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "The recent revival of our exports and our ability to compete at the forefront of the global market is thanks to the competitiveness of the machine tool industry, known as the 'Mother Machine.' We will establish an AI autonomous manufacturing master plan and actively support exports to strengthen the competitiveness of the machinery industry."
