Aging Industrial Complexes to Attract Youth... 'Sanridan-gil' Development Underway

Complex cultural facilities will be established in aging industrial complexes, and smart rest areas and kiosks will be installed on the streets. On the 1st, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will actively promote the 'Sanridan-gil Project' to transform aging industrial complexes focused on factories into spaces where young talents can gather, combining industry and culture.

The Sanridan-gil Project is one of the 20 key government budget tasks for 2024 and was also a major promotion task for creating 'industrial complexes rich in culture,' discussed at the Changwon Public Discussion on Livelihood held on February 22.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that as a result of the first round of business operator recruitment conducted until last month, a total of 49 sites across 22 industrial complexes nationwide were selected as project support targets. These include 17 youth complex cultural centers, 19 beautiful street creation sites, and 13 youth-friendly renovations of aging factories (130 companies). The government plans to provide a total of 126.1 billion KRW in national funds during the project period.

The government will support 4 to 6 billion KRW in national funds per site for construction costs (new construction, extension, remodeling) of youth complex cultural centers. In addition to office facilities, youth complex cultural centers will include fixed facilities, convenience facilities, and cultural facilities. Through the beautiful street creation project, youth-friendly living services such as unmanned cafes, stores, smart rest areas, and transportation and lifestyle information kiosks will be installed on main streets, parks, green spaces, and public lands within the industrial complexes.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to conduct a second round of recruitment for additional support until the 15th. Detailed information about the second recruitment can be found on the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation website.
