Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will operate an 'Emergency Recovery Team' from April to swiftly restore damages caused by various disasters such as heavy rain, typhoons, and building collapses.
The 'Emergency Recovery Team' project is designed to deploy human and material resources from medium and large construction sites within Gangbuk-gu to disaster recovery sites to prevent additional damage. The core objective is to quickly secure safety by reducing the time needed to arrange and deploy heavy equipment during accident response.
To this end, the district recruited construction companies willing to support public needs with private resources from construction sites. On the 29th of last month, five companies?Gyeryong Construction Industry (CEO Yoon Gil-ho), Minjok Tongil Industrial Development (CEO Lee Jeong-hee), Smart General Construction (CEO Lee Chun-seong), Teojeon L&C (CEO Cheon Tae-hyun), and Hanwha Construction Division (CEO Kim Seung-mo)?signed a 'Private Risk Facility Emergency Recovery Team Business Agreement' with the district and committed to disaster recovery efforts.
According to the agreement, these five companies will promptly restore sites where public use is disrupted or additional damage is expected due to various disasters until the completion of construction projects being carried out in Gangbuk-gu.
Main recovery tasks include emergency reinforcement of hazardous facilities, prevention of additional damage in case of building collapse, removal of mud and debris during heavy rain, pump operations, and rainwater drainage.
The recovery work will be undertaken by construction professionals such as site managers from the five companies as part of their public contribution (pro bono work), and heavy equipment such as excavators, cargo cranes, and forklifts will also be mobilized.
The district plans to establish an emergency recovery network by preparing and managing resources such as available personnel, emergency contact lists, and equipment inventories to ensure the rapid deployment of the 'Emergency Recovery Team.' This project is expected to enhance rapid response to disaster accidents, prevent additional damage, and promote harmony with residents through public contributions by private construction companies.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, stated, "Through this Emergency Recovery Team, we have been able to further strengthen Gangbuk-gu's safety net. We will continue to explore various projects to develop the region through public-private cooperation."
