Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) announced the '2024 Detailed Job Creation Plan' on the 26th of last month with the vision of 'A new and better Mapo, creating jobs together with residents,' and is striving to create a total of 18,793 jobs this year.
To this end, Mapo-gu has set five core strategies: ▲win-win jobs preparing for the future ▲Mapo-style welfare service support and empathetic jobs ▲customized services from youth to elderly ▲healthy city jobs for residents' healthy lives ▲and companion jobs for residents' better lives. The district will promote a total of 108 job projects this year, investing a budget of approximately 55.3 billion KRW.
First, through 90 projects including companion jobs for livelihood stability and economic activity opportunities for vulnerable employment groups such as low-income individuals, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, as well as public job projects like jobs for the disabled and elderly and self-support work, Mapo-gu plans to directly supply a total of about 7,000 jobs that enhance residents' quality of life, such as environmental security officers and assistant childcare teacher support projects.
Additionally, leveraging the region's characteristic of a high youth population ratio (41.3% aged 15 to 39), the district will strengthen youth employment support. First, Mapo-gu will expand the Mapo Youth Naru (located at 13 Yanghwa-ro) program to provide one-stop services for employment support, including various skill development programs, employment counseling, interview and resume photo shoots.
The 'Youth Employment Preparation Cost Support Project' launched last year will significantly increase support for qualification exam fees and interview preparation costs from 50,000 KRW to 100,000 KRW this year. The district will also promote the 'Youth Challenge Support Project' to enhance employment capabilities for youth who have given up job searching or are preparing for independence. For platform delivery workers, who have a high proportion of middle-aged workers, safety equipment and industrial accident insurance premium support will also be provided to ensure their safety and security.
Furthermore, reflecting Mapo-gu's characteristics with a high concentration of IT-related industries such as broadcasting, digital content, and software development centered around Sangam DMC, the district will implement projects accordingly. For youth aspiring to work in the broadcasting content field, a 'Youth Work Experience Project' will be offered, and middle-aged individuals aiming for the AI digital field will receive customized education and practical training to be nurtured as professionals.
In addition, the district will newly operate the 'Visiting Mapo Job Center' project this year to secure 1,000 jobs, and manage a 4 billion KRW fund for small and medium-sized enterprise development to promote stable management and working environments for companies, ensuring a continuous virtuous cycle of employment.
District Mayor Park Gang-su said, "Jobs are the best welfare," adding, "We will do our best to create a happy Mapo-gu where everyone can work by promoting customized job projects considering Mapo-gu's population structure and industrial characteristics, and by putting more effort into companion jobs for vulnerable employment groups."
