[Harumanbo Harucheonja] "Walking for Healing"... Growing Interest in Healing Walks

Healing Students' Minds at Jeju Island Healing Farm
Wando Marine Healing Center Reopens

One of the effects of walking is 'healing.' Especially in April, when you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of spring, events are held in various places where you can heal your weary mind by walking while looking at flowers. The goal is not to exercise vigorously or complete a course. It is to walk slowly, look around, and find comfort.

A representative place is Jeju Island. The Jeju Provincial Office of Education has signed a business agreement with healing farms in the province, including Jewon Haneul Farm, Jeju Olive Standard, Ilchulbong Aronia, and Fantasy Forest Gotjawal Park, to heal students' minds.

Through this agreement, the Jeju Provincial Office of Education plans to operate emotional rest and healing programs for students using Jeju's beautiful natural environment in collaboration with the Horticultural Therapy Welfare Association and healing farms. For example, through various programs such as walking along the tangerine blossom path, making tangerine blossom tea, preparing aronia food, foot bath therapy, and forest trail walking, students' emotional recovery and healing will be promoted.

The Jeonnam Provincial Forest Resources Research Institute will also operate forest healing programs at the 'Jeonnam Bitgaram Healing Forest' within the Naju research institute until November this year. The Jeonnam Bitgaram Healing Forest is an urban-suburban healing forest located 10 minutes from Naju Bitgaram Innovation City and 30 minutes from Gwangju.

The main programs include Dudream (林) for youth, Chaeurim for office workers, Eoulim for families, forest prenatal education for pregnant couples, Seolleim for those aged 65 and over, Heraerim for dementia patients and people with disabilities, Health Dream for patients with illnesses, and Maumnurim for civil servants in charge of complaints.

Professional forest healing instructors conduct programs to help users recharge energy and feel emotional stability through the forest. These include health checks, opening the mind, forest breathing meditation, barefoot acupressure therapy, hammock experience, foot bath experience, aroma massage, and flower tea conversations.

In Wando, Jeonnam, there is the only marine healing facility in Korea, the Wando Marine Healing Center. Opened in November last year, it became a 'healing hot place' popular enough to attract over 18,000 visitors within 100 days. During the closure period, new programs such as seaweed therapy were prepared, and it reopened on the 20th of last month. This center has 16 facilities utilizing Wando's marine resources such as seawater, seaweed, and mud, including thalassopool, meditation pool, seaweed foam therapy, mud and stone therapy.

The 'Seaweed Spa Therapy,' which installs individual bathtubs in the steam shower therapy and allows bathing in water containing raw seaweed such as miyeok (wakame) and dashima (kelp), is a special healing program that can only be experienced here. Various vitamins and minerals from seaweed are supplied to the skin, making it moist and soft. It also helps relieve fatigue and improve blood circulation.

To enhance visitor satisfaction, the center has added one more popular stone therapy room. In addition, programs have been upgraded, including the ability to use a mask pack containing 100% Wando-grown natural dashima.
