The handover ceremony was attended by Jo In-sook, Chairperson of the APEC Registered Architects Committee, and Salyawat Prasartwitayakan, Secretary-General of the APEC Registered Architects Committee of the Architect Council of Thailand.

Chairman Kim stated, “Through this chairmanship, we will strive to promote cooperation within the architectural community of the Asia-Pacific region,” adding, “Since next year is the year when the APEC Summit will be held domestically, we will do our best to ensure the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Registered Architects Central Council.”

Meanwhile, the APEC Registered Architects project was initiated in 2001 among member countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation to establish mutual recognition mechanisms for technical skills and qualifications aimed at reducing barriers to architectural service provision and facilitating the mobility of architects between countries. Currently, 14 out of 21 APEC countries participate, holding the Central Council meeting once every two years. Korea officially joined as a council member in 2006.
