Beauty platform company CTK announced on the 26th that its subsidiary CTK Bio has signed supply contracts with North American food service companies Gordon Food Service (GFS) and TriMark, respectively.
Based on partnerships with U.S. companies, CTK Bio will supply finished food products made from eco-friendly materials it developed in-house to the North American region starting in May.
CTK Bio, established in Canada, is a company that develops eco-friendly materials as alternatives to plastic. It is developing products using next-generation biodegradable materials such as PBAT and PHA, which decompose naturally and completely in environments like general soil or marine settings, as substitutes for conventional plastics that are difficult to decompose naturally or ‘PLA’ plastics. The company holds various patents.
GFS is one of the largest food service distribution groups in North America, achieving approximately 28 trillion KRW in sales last year. It supplies food, ingredients, and kitchen supplies to restaurants, schools, and medical facilities in the U.S. and Canada. TriMark is a distribution company recording trillion-KRW-level sales in the U.S. market, providing products and services necessary for the foodservice industry.
Through the supply contracts, CTK Bio will supply products throughout the U.S. and Canadian markets and officially commence sales activities. JK Park, CEO of CTK Bio, stated, "We have reached a turning point in our business by moving beyond the development stage to providing finished products to the market," adding, "To proceed with full-scale business operations, we are expanding production facilities and preparing to attract our first external investment in the U.S. financial market for continuous research and development."
