Yongsan-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Hee-young) is accepting applications for resident-participation budget projects to be included in the 2025 budget until April 19.

The purpose is to operate finances transparently and fairly.

For each project, general projects can be proposed up to 200 million KRW, and event-based projects up to 15 million KRW, covering all areas such as ▲resident convenience ▲life safety ▲culture ▲welfare to resolve inconveniences experienced in daily life and promote regional development. However, projects already in progress, those legally inappropriate, or those aimed at supporting specific private organizations are excluded from selection.

Local residents and workers who wish to participate can leave their opinions on the “Please use Yongsan-gu budget like this!” bulletin board on the Yongsan-gu website (accessible via the Participation Communication - Resident Participation Budget menu) by April 19.

Applications can also be submitted by mail (150 Noksapyeong-daero, 8th floor, Planning and Budget Office) or email. Proposal forms can be downloaded from the “Resident Participation Budget Bulletin Board” on the district website.

A district official explained, “Applications can be submitted at any time even after the reception period, but they will be reviewed as proposals for the 2026 budget.”

The total scale of next year’s projects operated through the resident participation budget is 1 billion KRW. Among the submitted proposals, the target projects will be decided through reviews by the relevant departments in May-June and evaluations by the Resident Participation Budget Committee in July-August. The final 2025 project budget, reflecting the resident-proposed projects, is scheduled to be confirmed at the district council’s regular session in December.

This year, 31 projects are operated through the resident participation budget, finalized after reviewing and evaluating 101 proposals submitted last year.

Major projects include ▲installation of ground traffic lights to create a safe walking environment (Cheongpa-dong) ▲installation of smart access gates at Yongsan Youth Center (Ichon 1-dong) ▲installation of smart warning boards to prevent illegal dumping of trash (Huam-dong and 5 other neighborhoods).

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “The resident participation budget system, where residents directly propose and select projects, is important in strengthening residents’ trust in the district’s finances,” adding, “We will do our best to discover resident-centered projects that solve inconveniences in daily life.”
