Nonsan City in Chungnam is expected to gain momentum in hosting the ‘2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo.’
On the 24th, Nonsan City announced that as of the 23rd, 400,000 visitors had attended the ‘2024 Nonsan Strawberry Festival,’ which has been held since the 21st at the Citizen Family Park area.

Additionally, the local economic ripple effect is estimated to reach 10 billion KRW, establishing the festival as a representative event for agricultural specialty products nationwide.
This is analyzed as the result of the city introducing 25 new family-oriented programs for visitors, including clean strawberry harvesting experiences, to prepare for the ‘2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo’ this year.
The newly introduced ‘Strawberry Science Kids Zone’ offered various experiments and experiences using everyday materials, shedding the dull image of science and stimulating children’s curiosity.

In addition, the ‘Korea Rotary-Wing Aircraft Exhibition,’ the largest helicopter exhibition in the country, attracted attention with the Army Aviation School showcasing eight helicopters, including the latest small armed helicopter (LAH-1).
Moreover, all food stalls priced their menus reasonably under 10,000 KRW, and strawberries were sold cheaper than market prices, which spread by word of mouth through SNS, drawing many visitors from across the country to the festival.
As a result, travel time from Daejeon-Gongju-Buyeo to Nonsan, which usually took 30 minutes to 1 hour, reportedly extended to 1 to 3 hours to reach the festival grounds.
Mayor Baek Seong-hyun said, “This year’s festival has already proven that Nonsan strawberries have a global stage. This is the result of the passion of Nonsan citizens, the shining value of Nonsan, and pride in excellent agricultural products,” adding, “We will prepare an even richer festival next year.”
