Ulsan Ulju-gun Conducts Nighttime License Plate Seizure for Overdue Vehicles in Q1 This Year

Vehicles with Two or More Unpaid Car Taxes Subject to Enforcement for Three Days Starting from the 26th

Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, will conduct nighttime license plate seizures for vehicles with unpaid automobile taxes and fines during the first quarter of this year from the 26th to the 28th.

The seizure targets are vehicles within the Ulsan area that have unpaid automobile taxes for two or more cases or automobile-related fines totaling 300,000 KRW or more. Vehicles from outside the Ulsan area will be seized if they have three or more unpaid automobile tax cases.


The enforcement team will focus on densely populated vehicle areas such as residential neighborhoods including one-room apartments and apartment complexes, commercial parking lots, and industrial complex roads throughout Ulju-gun. They will also simultaneously crack down on illegally registered vehicles (commonly known as "daepocha"). If caught, the vehicles will be forcibly towed on-site and auctioned off.


For vehicles registered in Ulju-gun, owners can retrieve their seized license plates by visiting the administrative welfare centers in their respective eup or myeon. For vehicles registered outside Ulju-gun, owners must visit the Tax Division 2 at Ulju-gun Office and pay all outstanding taxes in full to get their license plates back.


The county will actively guide delinquent taxpayers who find it difficult to pay the full amount to make installment payments, aiming to support the payment conditions of those with livelihood-related delinquencies.


An Ulju-gun official stated, “Please pay your overdue taxes promptly in advance to avoid disadvantages in economic activities or daily life caused by the seizure of your vehicle registration license plate.”
