Energy Saving in Residential Construction... SH Corporation Certified as an Excellent Low-Carbon Institution

‘Godeok Gangil 2BL’ Carbon Reduction of 832 Tons Annually

Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) has been recognized for constructing energy-efficient housing.

On the 22nd, SH Corporation announced that it received the ‘Low Carbon Excellence Certification in the Zero Energy Apartment Category’ from the Urban Regeneration Safety Association. Zero energy apartments are homes that reduce energy consumption through various methods. The ‘Godeok Gangil 2BL Zero Energy Apartment’ being developed by SH Corporation achieved an energy self-sufficiency rate of 60% and an annual carbon reduction of 832 tons.


According to the Urban Regeneration Safety Association, SH Corporation received high marks for its carbon reduction efforts in Godeok Gangil 2BL, including ▲minimizing energy demand through optimal building placement based on sunlight and airflow analysis, ▲minimizing energy demand by using a composite insulation system and reducing building protrusions, ▲improving energy self-sufficiency by introducing renewable energy sources (solar power, geothermal), and ▲maintaining optimal operation by monitoring building energy usage in real time.


SH Corporation was also recognized for proactively responding to the mandatory zero energy building regulations by actively practicing low carbon management and setting an example in the dissemination and adoption of various renewable energy technologies.


Kim Heon-dong, President of SH Corporation, said, “We are pleased that SH Corporation’s efforts to actively implement environmental management have been recognized through the Low Carbon Excellence Certification,” adding, “We will use this certification as an opportunity to actively promote the importance of environmental management and contribute to the 2050 carbon neutrality policies pursued by the government and Seoul City.”
