Listening to Busan Citizens! ... 'Designation Change of Building Standard Height and Maximum Height by Street Block'

Busan City will conduct a public inspection from the 22nd until April 9th to gather local residents' opinions on the 'Busan City Street District Building Height Management Plan Reorganization' project.

This project is being promoted for the first time in nine years since the 2015 reorganization of building heights by street district. The existing guidelines, which calculated the permissible building height through a complex method, have been revised to designate both the standard height and the maximum height simultaneously, making it easier for the general public to understand building heights.

Additionally, in response to changes in the local economic conditions, height regulations have been relaxed while ensuring pedestrian spaces are secured to improve the walking environment. Incentives will be provided for creating corridor-type spaces as a way to secure public interest.

If there are any opinions, they can be submitted by mail (to the Architecture Policy Division, Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu, Busan City) or by email by April 9th.

After collecting residents' opinions and undergoing review by the Architecture Committee, building heights by street district are scheduled to be designated in May.

Kim Jong-seok, Director of the Housing and Architecture Bureau, stated, “We have worked hard to produce satisfactory results considering changes in local economic conditions, the creation of a harmonious skyline, and residents’ demands,” adding, “Opinions presented during the public inspection will be thoroughly reviewed before designating building heights by street district.”
