March High-Ranking Officials' Asset Declarations

The reported assets of Sung Tae-yoon, Chief of Policy at the Presidential Office, amounted to approximately 8.8 billion KRW, making him the second wealthiest among those who disclosed their assets in March. Among retired aides, former Presidential Office Public Relations Secretary Kim Eun-hye reported the highest assets, totaling 25.7 billion KRW.


The Government Official Ethics Committee publicly released the asset registration details of high-ranking officials for March through the official gazette on the 22nd.


According to the asset registration, the combined assets held by Chief Sung, his spouse, and mother totaled 8,812,220,000 KRW.


Chief Sung personally holds a pre-sale right to an apartment in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (1,203,300,000 KRW), while his spouse and mother jointly own an apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu (1,783,000,000 KRW). Additionally, his mother solely owns another apartment in Ichon-dong (1,294,000,000 KRW).


Chief Sung also owns two vehicles registered under his name, and his spouse owns one vehicle.


The total deposit assets amounted to 3,947,870,000 KRW, including 75,530,000 KRW under his name, 3,718,180,000 KRW under his spouse’s name, 126,270,000 KRW under his mother’s name, and 27,890,000 KRW under the names of his children (eldest son, second son, and eldest daughter).

Among retired aides, former Presidential Office Public Relations Secretary Kim Eun-hye reported the highest assets at 25,719,140,000 KRW.


Former Secretary Kim declared land owned by her spouse in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (16,370,930,000 KRW), as well as buildings in Daechi-dong (2,332,700,000 KRW) and Nonhyeon-dong (1,272,000,000 KRW). She also reported deposits under her spouse’s name totaling 4,628,450,000 KRW and stocks valued at approximately 500 million KRW, including 112 shares of Netflix and 736 shares of Nvidia. Under her own name, she declared deposits worth 842,840,000 KRW and other assets.


Former Presidential Secretary Kim Dae-gi reported assets totaling 7,176,130,000 KRW. Regarding the controversy over the omission of approximately 2.8 billion KRW in promissory notes during his tenure as Chief Secretary, he sold part of it, about 430 million KRW. Deposit assets were reported as 1,235,950,000 KRW under his name, 464,670,000 KRW under his spouse’s name, and 354,170,000 KRW under his eldest daughter’s name. His eldest son refused to disclose assets citing independent livelihood.


Former Social Affairs Secretary Ahn Sang-hoon reported assets of 6,519,030,000 KRW. Former Civil Society Secretary Hwang Sang-moo, who resigned following remarks about a journalist’s 'knife attack,' reported assets totaling 1,994,700,000 KRW, including a leasehold right on an apartment in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.
