President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 20th, "I hope we can come together with wisdom so that new technologies, including artificial intelligence, serve as a lever to enhance and advance democracy rather than restrict it."

President Yoon made these remarks during his closing statement of the second session titled "Technology, Elections, and Fake News" at the 3rd Democracy Summit held in the State Guest House at Cheong Wa Dae that evening.

He said, "Today, we broadly discussed the impact of new technologies on our elections and democracy, as well as cooperative measures to respond to them," adding, "Through the passionate discussions with fellow leaders, we were able to reaffirm our shared aspiration for a future where freedom and human rights are respected, and peace and prosperity abound."

He continued, "If democratic nations unite and cooperate in the realms of law, institutions, and science and technology, I am confident that we can sufficiently overcome new challenges to democracy such as fake news."

President Yoon promised, "To ensure that our efforts bear valuable fruit, the Republic of Korea will continue to communicate and cooperate closely with the international community," and pledged, "We will also actively support activities at the private sector level."
