Jo Guk, leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, regarding the so-called ‘Han Dong-hoon Special Prosecutor Act’ as the first pledge of the general election, said, “Han Dong-hoon, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, is the ‘Crown Prince of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration,’ a living power among living powers,” and added, “If Chairman Han himself and his family have crimes and corruption, they must undergo the strictest investigation more than anyone else.”
On the 15th, Jo appeared on YTN Radio’s ‘News King Park Ji-hoon’ and said, “Chairman Han’s daughter has been reported in the media with 11 allegations including thesis ghostwriting, essay plagiarism, and inflated volunteer hours, but the investigative agencies have cleared all 11 admissions-related corruption charges,” adding, “Because proper investigations were not conducted on these allegations, it is only natural to introduce a special prosecutor to investigate.”
Regarding Chairman Han’s announcement the previous day of a political reform plan including measures such as ‘prohibiting succession if a proportional representative is convicted,’ Jo responded, “Proportional representatives belong not to individual lawmakers but to the party,” and said, “The bill that the People Power Party intends to propose has zero chance of passing.” Jo added, “As public support for the Jo Guk Innovation Party rises, Chairman Han and the People Power Party seem to have become sensitive and anxious,” and said, “In Busan dialect, it’s a situation to say, ‘Neugeotdeul jjolasse?’ (You guys are scared, right?).”
Regarding the trend of alliance with the Democratic Party, Jo said, “We must establish a permanent cooperative relationship,” and added, “I think alliance and cooperation are naturally taking place.” He continued, “Both parties belong to the pro-democracy progressive camp and share the same view on the ruthlessness, incompetence, and irresponsibility of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration,” and added, “They also agree on the need to strengthen people’s livelihood and welfare.”
However, the Jo Guk Innovation Party has repeatedly emphasized its position that while it will cooperate with the Democratic Party, it will not merge with them after the election.
