The South Korean and U.S. Air Forces conducted live-fire air-to-air and air-to-ground training exercises at the West Sea firing range from the 11th to the 15th, simulating provocations involving North Korea's cruise missiles and long-range artillery, the Republic of Korea Air Force announced.

The training involved a large deployment of combined air power, including South Korean Air Force F-35A, F-15K, KF-16, F-16, FA-50, and F-4E aircraft, as well as U.S. 7th Air Force A-10 and F-16 aircraft. The scenario focused on intercepting low-altitude cruise missiles launched by North Korea and precisely striking the origin points of artillery provocations.

Live-fire exercises were conducted using air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles equipped on South Korean and U.S. fighter jets, including AIM-7M (Sparrow), AIM-9 (Sidewinder), AIM-120B (AMRAAM), AGM-84H (SLAM-ER), AGM-65 (Maverick), GBU-31·38 (JDAM), and SPICE-2000. Assuming North Korea's cruise missile launches, F-15K, F-35A, FA-50, KF-16, F-16, and F-4E fired air-to-air missiles to intercept targets. Additionally, assuming provocations by North Korea's long-range artillery, F-15K, KF-16, and F-16 launched air-to-ground missiles toward the provocation points.
