The KOSPI rose for the third consecutive trading day, surpassing the 2700 mark for the first time in 1 year and 11 months.
On the 14th, the KOSPI closed at 2718.76, up 0.94% (25.19 points) from the previous day. The index opened at 2698.37, up 0.18% (4.80 points) from the previous session, showing a steady trend throughout the day.
Foreign investors and institutions net bought 672.8 billion KRW and 186.3 billion KRW respectively. Individual investors net sold 838.8 billion KRW. In the futures market, foreigners alone purchased 438.8 billion KRW, while individuals and institutions sold 299.5 billion KRW and 138.2 billion KRW respectively.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, most showed an upward trend. Samsung Electronics, ranked first in market cap, showed a downward trend initially but rebounded in the latter part of the session, closing 0.27% higher at 74,300 KRW. Samsung Biologics +1.45%, Hyundai Motor +1.21%, Kia +2.07%, KB Financial +1.42%, and Samsung C&T +3.08% also closed higher.
The KOSDAQ closed at 887.52, down 0.27% (2.41 points) from the previous day. It opened at 889.53, down 0.04% (0.40 points) from the previous session. Foreigners and institutions net sold 161 billion KRW and 42.8 billion KRW respectively, pulling the index down. Only individual investors net bought 210.5 billion KRW.
The top 10 stocks by market capitalization on the KOSDAQ ended mixed. Notable performers included HLB +5.67%, Alteogen +2.74%, and Rainbow Robotics +4.06%.
