The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is set to actively promote the establishment of the '(tentative name) Busan Port Logistics High School,' which is scheduled to open in 2026.
This school will have 18 classes and accommodate 288 students, equipped with a teacher's building, practical training rooms in the port logistics field, dormitories, and other facilities to provide a professional and stable educational environment.
The establishment of 'Busan Port Logistics High School' is being pursued as part of a major vocational education transformation linked to regional industry demands, following the designation of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education as a pilot zone for educational development in February.
To ensure a successful opening, a task force (T/F) consisting of officials from the city education office, local governments, and companies will be formed around May to begin selecting departments and organizing the curriculum.
Three departments focused on nurturing talent in the port logistics industry centered around the Busan New Port industrial complex will be selected. An NCS (National Competency Standards) curriculum in the port logistics field will be operated utilizing professional teachers, industry-academic concurrent teachers, and experts. Additionally, advisory groups for specialized personnel training in each department will be established to cultivate outstanding talent who can settle in Busan.
Furthermore, to support employment and regional settlement, agreements linking recruitment with local governments and regional port logistics companies will be made for the workforce development of 'Busan Port Logistics High School.'
In particular, the Busan Office of Education plans to select a school to be converted into 'Busan Port Logistics High School' in April through a public contest targeting public and private specialized high schools in the Busan area in March.
The selected school must meet conditions for restructuring at the school level, such as reorganizing departments in the port logistics field and relocating the school within the New Port industrial complex, aiming to recruit new students in March 2026.
The Busan Office of Education expects that 'Busan Port Logistics High School,' opening in line with the opening of Gadeokdo New Airport and the completion of Busan New Port, will contribute to nurturing excellent talent in the port logistics sector.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “Busan Port Logistics High School will greatly contribute to the development of the regional port logistics industry through the operation of a prestigious vocational high school linked with the new airport and new port. We will do our best to establish a school that will greatly aid regional economic development and the settlement of outstanding talent in the area.”
