Global premium mattress brand Sealy Bed (CEO Yoon Jong-hyo) announced that it will officially sponsor the ‘2024 Onbit Photography Award’ to continue its activities promoting Korean culture and arts.
Sealy Bed empathizes with the purpose of the ‘Onbit Photography Award,’ which encourages and supports the work of documentary photographers, and has established a new award called the ‘Onbit-Sealy Photography Award.’ The ‘Onbit-Sealy Photography Award’ aims to expand the base of Korean documentary photography, improve awareness of documentary photography, and create culture by selecting photographers who express various contemporary issues such as politics, economy, society, culture, and environment with innovative approaches.
Onbit Documentary is a photographers’ organization founded in 2011 by photographers who shared the intention to revitalize the Korean documentary photography scene by reflecting on the essence of photography, ‘recording,’ and to interpret this era more deeply. It hosts the ‘2024 Onbit Photography Award.’
Onbit Documentary, which has worked hard to protect the rights and interests of photojournalists and documentary photographers and to support the Korean documentary photography community, has held the ‘Onbit Documentary Photography Award’ 12 times to date, selecting a total of 27 winners and holding exhibitions of outstanding works.
Yoon Jong-hyo, CEO of Sealy Bed, said, “For the past 10 years, we have sponsored the KBS Symphony Orchestra, and last year, as part of social contribution through the arts, we held a special concert for the citizens of Yeoju.” He added, “Sealy Bed will continue various activities to promote Korean culture and arts in the future.”
Regarding this, the application period for the ‘2024 Onbit Photography Award’ is from March 20 to midnight on April 7. Detailed information can be found on the ‘Onbit Documentary website.’
