Regional Metropolitan Express Railway, Local Government Briefing Session on the 12th

Communication to Discover Additional Projects Such as Region-Specific Routes

The government will engage in communication with local governments and industry to discover additional projects following the Chungcheong Regional Express Transit (CTX), the pilot project of the regional express transit (x-TX), and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport Regional Express Transit. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold a briefing session on the 12th at Korea Railroad Corporation for local government railway officials.

With the Chungcheong Regional Express Transit (CTX) underway, the briefing session for local government officials aims to enhance understanding of the regional express transit and private investment projects, and to guide the support system so that local governments can identify additional projects.

This briefing session was arranged as a follow-up measure to the "Three Major Innovation Strategies in the Transportation Sector" announced at the sixth public discussion chaired by the President on January 25. Approximately 30 participants from Gyeongsangbuk-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Daegu, Daejeon, and Sejong are expected to attend.

The Private Railway Management Support Center will explain railway policies and operations, as well as the characteristics of the x-TX project, which passes through deep underground (over 40m) at a faster speed (180 km/h) than existing metropolitan railways, and why it is necessary in non-capital regional cities.

The Korea Rail Network Authority will explain the overall implementation procedures of private railway projects and the Authority’s role in the process, and will provide technical support information such as connections with nearby lines and network integration that local governments must go through when promoting x-TX projects.

Attending as an industry representative, the SOC Forum will explain the background and progress of the Shinansan Line Phase 2 (Yeouido-Seoul Station) project as a case of private railway project promotion, and will discuss the importance of projects and communication methods with the industry when local governments discover additional x-TX projects.
