With the K-Food wave spreading worldwide, Pohang rice achieved a record export volume of 276 tons last year. It has already established itself as a representative brand in regions such as Dubai in the Middle East and Toronto in Canada, maintaining steady order volumes.
Taking this Nigeria rice export as an opportunity, Pohang City plans to strengthen active overseas marketing efforts to establish 'Pohang Rice' as the representative rice brand in the African region.
Geum Ye-cheol, CEO of Daepung Agricultural Cooperative, stated, “Pohang rice is well-known for its excellent taste due to being cultivated and harvested under abundant sunlight and clean water quality in the region, and it is highly favored overseas thanks to outstanding export milling technology.”
A Pohang City official said, “We will continue to provide various support to ensure that the export volume and export countries of local agricultural products steadily expand, helping to increase farmers' incomes.”
