LG Energy Solution is discussing a battery supply contract applying pouch-type Cell to Pack (CTP) technology.

At the 'InterBattery 2024,' the largest domestic battery exhibition held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, CEO Kim met with reporters and said, "(Regarding the supply of batteries applying Cell to Pack) we are discussing a lot, and we will share the results once they come out."

Cell to Pack is a technology that removes the module stage from the existing battery configuration and assembles cells directly into the pack. It increases energy density while reducing battery weight and cost.

Regarding the timing of developing solid-state battery samples, CEO Kim said, "We are preparing, but since it is a future technology, we are preparing a highly complete and practically applicable product," adding, "So even if it takes some time, we want to release something proper."

CEO Kim was inaugurated last month as the 8th president of the Korea Battery Industry Association. He assumed the presidency automatically according to the association's bylaws following the retirement of the former president, Kwon Young-soo, former LG Energy Solution vice chairman.

Regarding future cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, CEO Kim said, "We need to discuss support for research and development (R&D) and critical mineral production, and fundamentally, we must ensure that member companies can conduct their businesses well."
