On the 6th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will conduct a special comprehensive inspection of security CCTV and emergency bells within the city in cooperation with the Icheon Police Station to ensure commuting safety with the start of the new school term this month and to prevent crimes in vulnerable areas such as parks.

During the four-week inspection, the focus will be on 394 locations equipped with CCTV emergency bells, checking ▲whether the emergency bells and linked speakers are functioning properly ▲the audio quality of the speaker announcements ▲whether the CCTV direction changes when the emergency bell is activated ▲utilization of CCTV locations using Icheon City's geographic information system ▲and the visibility of the signage.
The Icheon City CCTV Integrated Control Center operates approximately 3,400 CCTV cameras across 1,809 locations throughout the entire city. In particular, when an emergency bell is pressed during a crisis, it enables real-time communication between the control center operator and the caller.
Previously, in November last year, operators at the CCTV control center monitored teenagers sexually harassing an intoxicated female companion in a local park, immediately reported the incident to the Icheon Police Station 112 situation room, and the suspects were apprehended on the spot.
Choi Hyun-hee, the Information and Communications Officer of Icheon City, stated, "We will do our best to expand facilities and manage existing ones to ensure the safety of our citizens."
