On the 6th, GS Construction announced that it will participate in the '2024 Drone Show Korea' held at BEXCO in Busan until the 8th, where it will present the vertiport concept design.

The UAM Future Team, which GS Construction belongs to, is a consortium formed in cooperation with LG Uplus and Kakao Mobility. On February 22 last year, they signed the first phase agreement for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s ‘K-UAM Grand Challenge Demonstration Project’ and plan to conduct demonstration flights in the second half of this year.

GS Construction proposed conceptual design plans for four types of vertiports in urban areas for UAM operation according to the construction method: ▲ Remodeling type ▲ New construction type ▲ 1-layer modular type ▲ 2-layer modular type.

The remodeling type vertiport is a method of adding vertiport functions through remodeling while maintaining existing functions on facilities and sites within the city. The new construction type vertiport is built together on top of buildings in single or mixed-use development projects. The modular type vertiport is characterized by the ability to quickly construct vertiports based on standardized basic modules, modularizing structures and facilities by spatial function, and expanding scale in response to location or demand changes.

A GS Construction official said, "The expansion of transportation systems utilizing UAM will bring innovation to urban spaces and lifestyles. The development, construction, and operation of vertiports for UAM operation will become a core element of various urban planning and development in the future." He added, "Through this project, we plan to present vertiport models applicable to the UAM business and secure competitiveness in the UAM business by developing an integrated vertiport solution covering site selection, design, construction, and operation of vertiports."
