The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is launching the ‘Gyeonggi Edu-Keeper Legal Support System’ to protect school staff from legal disputes arising during legitimate educational activities. Legal responses will also be strengthened against malicious and unfounded complaints.

On the 4th, the Office of Education announced that, as of the 1st of this month, it has established a new Legal Support Division for School Staff under the Administrative Legal Affairs Office to reinforce the protection network for stable educational activities by school personnel.

The Legal Support Division for School Staff will be responsible for ▲ strengthening initial response support such as on-site legal consultations for false child abuse reports ▲ expanding support during investigations and inquiries into serious infringements of legitimate educational activities ▲ legally responding to malicious complaints, thereby enabling schools to focus on the essence of educational activities.

In particular, the Office plans to strengthen administrative and financial support protection networks for stable educational activities by establishing the ‘Gyeonggi Edu-Keeper Legal Support System’ to protect school staff during legal disputes arising from legitimate job performance.

Additionally, the Office will enhance on-site support from the early stages when issues such as child abuse arise. Upon a report, the Legal Support Division for School Staff will be dispatched to the site to provide legal consultation support during investigations or inquiries, according to the wishes of the reported individual.

The Office will also build a local pool of lawyers to provide practical assistance on-site, such as appointing legal counsel during sudden investigations or inquiries related to child abuse allegations.

Jeong Eun-ji, Administrative Legal Affairs Officer at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "When disputes related to legitimate educational activities occur, immediate legal consultation and advice must be provided so that school staff are legally protected anytime and anywhere. We will strengthen legal support so that schools can focus on student education activities, and establish standards and criteria for handling cases to foster a culture of acceptance in the educational field."
