To ensure students' commuting safety, the Office of Education recognized the need for a comprehensive safety management system and deemed it essential to raise awareness and encourage participation among stakeholders such as schools, parents, and the local community for effective policy implementation. Thus, they embarked on developing this system.

In January last year, a T/F team was formed, consisting of representatives from Busan City, the Police Agency, related organizations, and vice principals. Together with a service provider, they conducted surveys, verified safety map creation, and developed the system.

The responsive web system ‘Deunggotgil Anshim e’ provides real-time information on safe school routes based on the student’s location and allows users to view traffic safety facilities and hazardous facilities around schools at a glance. Additionally, any user, including students and parents, can easily submit improvement suggestions.

The main features include ▲implementation of safe school routes ▲13 items of traffic safety facilities and 3 items of hazardous area facilities around elementary schools ▲before-and-after photos of improvements in hazardous areas ▲volunteer placement points. It also includes functions such as 2D/3D conversion, satellite view, and weather information.

Users can access the system by entering the domain address or by searching on the internet via portals like Daum or Naver. The system manual will be uploaded on the Office of Education’s website and the School Safety Plus platform.

The Busan Office of Education expects the system to play a significant role in preventing safety accidents during students’ commutes and in the prompt improvement of risk factors.

Ha Yoon-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “The launch of this system will lay the foundation for building a comprehensive and continuous database on school route safety,” adding, “We will also strive to raise awareness among all stakeholders related to school routes?including parents, local residents, and related organizations?that they are responsible for creating a safe commuting environment.”
