Chairman Choi Tae-won Reappointed as SK Group Chairman: "I Will Work in a Way That Benefits the National Economy" (Comprehensive)

Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and SK Group, stated on the 29th, "I will work in a direction that benefits the nation and the national economy."

After confirming his reappointment as chairman at the 'Seoul Chamber of Commerce Regular General Meeting' held at the KCCI building in Jung-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon, Chairman Choi told reporters this.

In his remarks on his election, Chairman Choi said, "I believe my duty over the next three years is to contribute even a little to solving the difficult problems of our economic society," adding, "Even if I cannot present a clear solution to long-standing issues, if I can create a direction and clues for solutions that many people can agree on, I think that alone will have great meaning." With his reappointment as chairman of the Seoul Chamber, Chairman Choi has effectively secured his reappointment as chairman of the KCCI.

Regarding the appointment of the full-time vice chairman, Chairman Choi said, "It will be decided soon." Currently, Park Il-jun, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is being mentioned as a candidate.

When asked by a reporter whether SK Group is currently in a crisis, Chairman Choi briefly answered, "Opportunity."

Regarding Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's visit to Korea, he replied, "I was not (in Korea)."

On this day, the Seoul Chamber unanimously endorsed Chairman Choi as the 25th chairman. His term lasts until February 2027.

If the national chamber chairmen and special members recommend and agree at the KCCI general meeting to be held on the 21st of next month, Chairman Choi's reappointment as the 25th chairman of the KCCI will be finalized.
