A video showing drunken Russian soldiers causing a disturbance in a bar and even firing guns has been released, sparking outrage. On the 28th (local time), the British Daily Mail reported, "On the 23rd, Russian soldiers raided a bar in Chornomorsk, a northwestern area of the Krym Peninsula (Russian name: Crimean Peninsula), and fired shots while causing a riot."
Various social networking services (SNS) have been spreading CCTV footage from the bar entrance capturing the incident. In the video, a group of soldiers carrying rifles suddenly burst in and fire shots into the air. They also threatened civilians on the balcony, causing terrified people to lower their heads and lie face down on the floor. Several men in plain clothes were also present, beating those lying down with batons and kicks.
The riot resulted in multiple injuries, and one man was reportedly seriously hurt and hospitalized. A netizen claiming to be the girlfriend of the injured man posted the video and photos of two bleeding men on SNS, explaining, "Drunken soldiers harassed women, leading to fights with men, and they called armed comrades." She added, "They sat my boyfriend on a chair and brutally beat him with batons," appealing, "Please widely share and raise awareness of this video so that such incidents do not happen again to someone you love tomorrow."
The soldiers who committed the assault are identified as belonging to the 81st Volunteer Brigade, known as the 'Bears Unit.' This unit is part of the Russian private military company 'Redut,' which has participated in the Ukraine war, was established last year, and is stationed in the Krym Peninsula. It is reported that men in plain clothes, after drinking and arguing with civilians, brought in armed soldiers who then caused the disturbance. The incident became known through SNS, and a complaint has been filed with the military prosecutor's office.
In November last year, a soldier from the Bears Unit also killed a civilian in the Kherson region by striking with an axe and shooting.
