Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, who is visiting South Korea, is reportedly likely to meet with Jo Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics.
According to industry sources on the 25th, discussions are underway between both parties about a possible meeting between Zuckerberg and Jo during this visit to Korea. However, it has not yet been decided whether they will actually meet.
If the meeting between Zuckerberg and Jo takes place, it is expected that they will discuss cooperation plans related to next-generation technologies and products such as artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR).
Zuckerberg's visit to Korea marks about 10 years since his last trip in June 2013. At that time, he visited Korea for a 2-day, 1-night schedule and met with then-President Park Geun-hye and Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong (current Chairman).
It is also reported that Zuckerberg is coordinating a schedule to pay a courtesy call on President Yoon Suk-yeol during his visit, and there is a possibility he will meet Chairman Lee to discuss collaboration on AI semiconductors.
Meta is actively entering the AI technology competition. Recently, Meta announced plans to independently develop artificial general intelligence (AGI) that is close to or surpasses human intelligence.
