The Presidential Office announced that it will hold the Minsheng Discussion Forum, which was originally planned as a joint ministry briefing, throughout the year. Currently, 7 to 8 additional topics are being prepared, and a mid-term review will be conducted in the future. The aim is to actively discuss and respond to various livelihood issues in a timely manner, as well as to establish and implement policies.
On the 25th, Sung Tae-yoon, the Policy Chief of the Presidential Office, responded to a reporter's question at a briefing held at the Yongsan Presidential Office about how many more Minsheng Discussion Forums are planned.
President Yoon Suk-yeol presided over a total of 14 Minsheng Discussion Forums from the 4th to the 22nd of last month.
Sung said, "There are already about 7 to 8 topics on the prepared schedule," adding, "However, as more topics are discovered and government ministry reports are compiled, there may be a few more."
According to Sung, various topics such as efficient use of national land, defense-related industrial clusters, youth issues, worker issues, and platforms for the people are being prepared.
Sung also said, "There are requests from various regions, and depending on the topic, the forum may be held in Seoul or in the regions," adding, "In the regions, it is held when there is a request from the area and when the topic is highly relevant to that region."
Regarding the mid-term review of the Minsheng Discussion Forum, he said, "The timing is being coordinated, and there are many requests from regions, but the process involves checking the maturity of policies, the level of preparation, and whether the public can actually feel the impact," adding, "Under such a schedule, a mid-term review is planned, and we are thinking of conducting an overall review around March and continuing thereafter."
He added, "Although the specific date has not been set, a Minsheng Discussion Forum in the form of a mid-term review will be held."
