A fire broke out when sparks from welding work at Incheon International Airport ignited insulation material. The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes.
At around 3:10 PM on the 24th, a fire broke out at an external pillar near Gate 1 on the 3rd floor departure hall of Incheon International Airport Terminal 2, and firefighters are conducting extinguishing operations. [Image source=Yonhap News]
원본보기 아이콘According to the fire authorities on the 24th, the fire occurred at around 3:10 PM at an external pillar near Gate 1 on the 3rd floor departure hall of Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport. Upon receiving the report, the fire department deployed 94 personnel, including firefighters, and 33 pieces of equipment such as pump trucks. The fire was extinguished at approximately 3:43 PM, 33 minutes after it started. There were no casualties, but the external pillar and wall of the terminal were scorched.
The fire authorities estimate that the fire was caused by sparks from welding work igniting the insulation material. Just before the fire, expansion construction was underway on the external pillar of the terminal.
The fire authorities plan to investigate the exact extent of the damage.
