During the meeting, proposals were made regarding the 2024 major tourism tasks and the plan for the 62nd Jinhae Gunhang Festival, including ▲Southern region (Southeast region - Changwon) metropolitan development project ▲Establishment of Changwon Special City comprehensive tourism development plan ▲Tourism resource development projects ▲Revamping of the Changwon tourism website ▲Jinhae Gyeonghwa Station landmark project.

The committee members suggested that industrialization of Changwon’s representative festivals, the Jinhae Gunhang Festival and the Masan Chrysanthemum Festival, is urgently needed to revitalize tourism.

In particular, many expressed the opinion that to revitalize the Chrysanthemum Festival, which faces financial waste and limitations in expansion due to its annual one-time festival setup, it is necessary to create a year-round chrysanthemum-based permanent complex space.

Park Dong-jin, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “I hope the committee members will lend their expertise and wisdom to help activate Changwon tourism through festival industrialization and commercialization of tourism resources.”

Meanwhile, the Changwon Special City Tourism Promotion Committee is a policy advisory body composed of experts such as tourism business operators, workers from culture, arts, and tourism-related institutions, and professors, aimed at improving Changwon’s tourism conditions and fostering the local tourism industry.
